What a “pass” actually certifies

A green report from PhotoChecker certifies exactly one thing: none of the measurable technical checks failed. Those checks are geometric and digital — width and height in pixels, the aspect of the crop, the crown-to-chin span you mark by hand (or a face detector estimates), how bright and even the background edge pixels are, the byte size, the file format.

Everything else a passport office cares about sits outside that list: expression, shadows falling on the face, glare on lenses, how old the picture is, head coverings, retouching — none of it is something a heuristic can rule on. Acceptance belongs solely to the issuing authority’s own validators and reviewers. Any site promising guaranteed acceptance is promising something it cannot deliver; this one refuses to.

Specifications drift — and the official text governs

Requirements are a moving target. Countries revise dimensions and digital-submission rules, and even official pages sometimes disagree with each other. What appears here and on the requirements page is a careful, dated snapshot — representative as of late 2026 rather than authoritative law. Before an appointment or a deadline, confirm against the issuing authority’s current publication; where that and this site differ, follow the authority.

Liability and independence

PhotoChecker is offered “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, its maintainers accept no liability for rejected applications, delayed travel, re-shooting costs or other losses tied to the use of the site. The project has no affiliation, endorsement or other connection to any government, consulate, passport agency or visa processor.

Keep your originals

Analysis runs on your own hardware and no copy of your photo is stored here — which also means nothing is backed up. Hang on to the source file until the application is fully done.

Ads on the site

Display advertising (such as Google AdSense) may appear to offset running costs. It occupies its own space on the page: it steers neither the checker’s verdicts nor the wording of the guides.
